RVIA’s standards inspection program is one of the signature industry initiatives of the organization, it said. The standards department maintains a professional team of full-time inspectors that promote the enhancement of safety by monitoring adherence to the standards adopted by the board of directors for the construction of RVs and park model RVs.

RVIA said Lee is already gaining experience with conducting inspections in his first weeks on the job, having participated in a couple of inspections at local manufacturing plants. Going forward he will be traveling across the country to plants to conduct inspections.

“It’s great to see the inspection process and be able to develop a good relationship with our members,” Lee said. “During our visits, we focus on educating the manufacturers to make sure all codes and safety standards are being followed.”

With a background in computers, electrical repair and mechanical repair, Corey’s technical skill set blends well with his responsibilities on the standards team. He gained much of his expertise through his previous work with financial and retail technology company Diebold Corporation before eventually deciding he was ready for a career change. “I wanted a different challenge,” he said. “I was looking for a change and this seemed like a great opportunity. I’m excited to get going with it.”

Aside from the on-the-job experience, Lee said the travel was a big thing that interested him about the job.

“I haven’t done much traveling around the country,” he said. “I’m looking forward to exploring more places when we’re on the road.”
