Kinro Inc., a subsidiary of Drew Industries, has acquired Agile Vehicle Modifications, a thermoforming design and production operation located in Elkhart, Ind. The acquisition price was $300,000 at closing, and up to an additional $150,000 will be paid depending on sales of the acquired operation for one year, according to Kinro.

“This acquisition is essentially a complement to our thermoforming company, which is Kinro Composites,” Jerod Lippert, director of marketing for the company, told RV PRO

Agile Vehicle Modifications, which has annual revenues of less than $1 million, produces thermoformed plastic components and tooling largely for the OEM and vehicle aftermarket. Those components are used in RVs as a part of shower pans, bath tubs, sinks and shower surrounds, Lippert said.

"Kinro's existing thermoforming capability will be substantially expanded company-wide as a result of this acquisition," said Jason Lippert, Chairman and CEO of Kinro. "Now we can provide thermoformed products in Northern Indiana to meet our customers' needs."

Kinro Composites produces its thermoforming products out of a plant 40 miles south of Dallas in Waxahachie, Texas. The existing Agile Vehicle Modification facility in Elkhart is now leased to Kinro.

"Agile's focus on thermoformed products for the OEM and aftermarket vehicle market fits perfectly with our continuing expansion into the specialty markets,” said Scott Mereness, president of Kinro.

Jerod Lippert said the company currently has no immediate plans, but is open to acquiring additional businesses this year.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to acquire companies and to grow our business,” he said. “When those opportunities come around, we’ll consider them. I can tell you, we’re always looking for good opportunities. If the price is right and the people are right, we’ll always think about acquiring new businesses.”
