RV Sales Surging in Michigan
“Things have not slowed down through June, according to the information that dealers have given me,” Sheffer said. “One dealer told me yesterday (July 2) that June was best month he’s ever had.”
Sheffer said he was encouraged by the sales performance, adding that the uptick in motorhome sales “is a good sign. Motorhome sales in Michigan decreased in 2011 compared to the year prior.
“(Michigan) always has such great summer weather, but it actually started in March this year and it just continued on. We had a bit of a freeze in April, but other than that, the dry spring allowed people to get out and use their RVs,” he said. “I also think there’s some confidence in the economy. The auto industry here isn’t what it used to be, but it’s in a pretty good place right now. I think we’re seeing workers being comfortable in their positions and becoming more comfortable spending money and buying RVs.”
