TRVA Convention Attracts Strong Signup
So far, 268 RV dealers and industry personnel have registered to attend the convention, which is set for Aug. 10-13 at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol in Austin, Texas. About 210 people attended the convention last year. This year's event, the 38th annual, is expected to attract nearly 300 attendees.
“This year the early registration was tremendous. We’ve had more early registrants and new attendees than we’ve had in the last six years I’ve been here,” Campos told RV PRO. “I think more people are coming because the industry is recovering so nicely – the markets are optimistic, sales are going good and the overall climate in the industry has improved. People are excited again and looking forward to the future.”
The convention includes a full slate of entertainment, education sessions, banquets and a trade show, according to TRVA. A casino night event and a comedy show welcome attendees on the first night of the convention, Aug. 10. A golf tournament follows the next morning at the Crenshaw Cliffside Golf course. TRVA also will hold an event outlining all the non-convention activities available to attendees in Austin.
“Austin is a great city. It has a lot to offer and is just always a fun place to be. That was also part of the big draw we’ve had,” she said.

The TRVA Sponsors Networking Trade Show and Reception is set for 4:30 to 6:30 on Aug. 11. The trade show and reception, which is a super-charged networking session, is primarily meant to benefit the companies that sponsor it, according to TRVA. Companies that purchase the premier sponsor package for $2,000 also get a 10- by 10-foot exhibit booth. Campos expects 28-30 booths for the show, which would be an improvement compared to the 22 exhibiting booths last year.
“Our trade show is usually two to three hours. Over the years that has become one of our most popular events. It’s not stretched out over days and days – it’s a concentrated time to really hit hard with all the attendees,” she said. “People get tired of standing around at trade shows waiting for someone to walk by. This isn’t like that at all. Our sponsors get a captive audience because this is the only event going on at that time."

Park owners have the chance to attend an education sesson by Dr. Peter Tarlow, founder and president of Tourism & More. Tarlow, an expert of the impact that crime and terrorism have on the tourism industry, will explain useful safety proceedures and which cautions South Texas park businesses should excercize in near-border locations.
The evening of Aug. 12 will bring the President’s Banquet and Silent Auction, which Campos said regularly attracts legislators and important policy figures from the State of Texas.
Those interested in attending the TRVA convention should register as soon as possible, as hotel space is quickly running out, Campos said.
“We’ve had to increase our hotel block reservation twice. If you want to come, book quickly,” she said.
