Andersen Hitches recently released the Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2, which maintains features of the original version while improving the overall structure.
“We are constantly coming up with ways to improve our products,” said Andrew Porter, VP of Andersen Hitches. “The industry is constantly changing, so we adapt and improve our products to be some of the strongest on the market.”
Beginning in 2015, engineers at Andersen started to revamp the original Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection. By studying the feedback from the thousands of owners of the original hitch and hundreds of hours of testing, the Andersen Hitches team improved the strength and structure.
To fit the cross bracing of newer trucks, Andersen Hitches offset where the base sits in the truck bed. By opting for two triangle plates on the side (rather than a single plate on the front) and widening the stance of the arms, the the Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2 can handle heavier loads.
The Ultimate Connection 2 is made from aircraft-grade aluminum, and weighs 35 pounds.
The Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2 also adds a 6-inch wide funnel to the King Pin Block. Users can have the hitch unboxed, connected, and be driving away in less than 20 minutes. Once installed, connections can be made in 45 seconds or less.
The Ultimate Connection 2 also is greaseless, and has a remote latch.
The Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2 costs $770.
