Defective Hubs Lead to Recalls

Grand Design RV and Crossroads RV are recalling certain model year 2015-16 trailers due to the studs used to attach the wheels to the axle hubs, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall affects 142 Grand Design units, including the Reflection 303RLS, 308BHTS and 313RLTS. Affected Crossroads units (44) include 2016 Cruiser, Cruiser Aire, ReZerve and Sunset Trail units.

In the affected units, the studs that are used to attach the wheels to the axle hubs may break, possibly causing the wheel to detach from the vehicle.

Grand Design has notified owners, and dealers will replace any affected wheel hub, free of charge. The recall began on April 14. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 574-825-9679. Grand Design’s number for this recall is 910003.

Crossroads has notified owners, and dealers will replace the defective hubs, free of charge. The recall began on April 14. Owners may contact Crossroads customer service at 1-855-226-7496. Crossroads number for this recall is 37.

Spartan Motors is recalling 66 of its 2015 K3 chassis used in some motorhomes due to faulty tag axle suspension.

The faulty units were manufactured Feb. 28 to Oct. 21, 2014. The tag axle suspension hangers may move allowing the tag axle assembly to shift off center.

Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will weld the tag axle suspension hangers to the main frame. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan’s number for this recall is 15001.
