Grand Design co-founder and President Don Clark received EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Ohio Valley region during a recent reception in Cincinnati.

Clark, who won for the leisure and recreation category, made a brief acceptance speech, where he congratulated other finalists.

“It’s very humbling to stand up with such great entrepreneurs and leaders in their industry,” Clark said. “It’s a big deal for a little company out of Middlebury, Ind., so thank you very much.”

Clark went on to thank the Middlebury, Ind.-based company’s workers.

“In fact,” said Clark, checking the time on his wrist watch. “It’s 9:15, so it’s a 50-50. If the Grand Design people can still stand. … On behalf of you and the other 826 Grand Design team members, this one’s for you.”

Clark and 11 other business executives from the Ohio Valley region were honored during the ceremony.

On Tuesday, PPL Motor Homes announced its president, Diana LeBlanc, received the award in the Gulf Coast region.

As regional winners, LeBlanc and Clark move on to the national contest.
