A group of industry experts gathered in Tampa, Florida from Jan. 10-13 to review the recently piloted “Registered” technician exam and to review the standard and test for the “Certified” and “Master Certified” technician exam.
The group included eight master certified technicians, two certified technicians, a working technician and six subject matter experts. The meeting was facilitated by Katherine Manley from the National Occupancy Competency and Testing Institute and RVIA staff.
Updates to the standard and exam were drafted and will be piloted in the near future. Once the tests are finalized, all the support materials in the study guides, textbooks, and online training program will be updated and made available.
The target date for these items is May 2017. The new tests need to be approved by the Certification Governing Board, which will also determine when the new exams will be implemented.
