In addition to naming Frank Hugelmeyer as its next president during last week’s Committee Week meetings in Washington, D.C., the RV Industry Association also named two new members to the board of directors and approved several motions.

Jim Jacobs of Allied Recreation Group will fulfill the term of the company seat vacated by John Draheim. David Carson of Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. will assume the company seat that had been held by Bob Harbin. Draheim and Harbin recently announced their retirements from their respective companies.

In other actions, the RVIA Board approved:

Conducting an update to “The RV Consumer: A Demographic Profile” in FY2016 that will focus on RV ownership characteristics and examine changing demographic patterns impacting future RV ownership. RVIA has conducted this research in conjunction with the University of Michigan since 1980 with the last update published in 2011.

• Setting an effective date of July 1, 2015, and an enforcement date of Jan. 1, 2016, for the 2015 edition of the ANSI A119.5 Standard for Park Model RVs.

• Adding the following language to the Park Model RV seal: “This Park Model RV is designed for temporary recreational, camping or seasonal use.”

• Establishing a program requirement that RV manufacturers address the speed limit rating of originally installed ST tires in their owner’s manual.

The RVIA Board actions were the result of recommendations from many of the association’s standing committees that met from May 31 – June 2.  Programs with specific budgets for FY2016 are pending until final approval by the RVIA Executive Committee at its August budget meeting and the RVIA Board at its September meeting.
