Wholesale RV Values Hit Another All Time High

RVs on lot

“The values of used RVs sold at wholesale auctions have once again reached all-time highs. This is the fourth consecutive month of record setting values for towables, and the third out of four for motorized units,” said Eric Lawrence at Black Book. “This continued popularity of used units mirrors what we’re seeing on the new side, where although manufacturers are reporting record shipments, dealers say they still don’t have enough inventory.”

“Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for motorized units was $60,067, which is up $6,466 (12.1 percent) from the previous month,” Lawrence continued. “Towables came in at $19,346, up $150 (0.7 percent) from last month.  One year ago, the average motor home sold for $45,384 and the average towable unit brought $14,121.”

Black Book reports auction volume was mixed: motorhomes decreased 3.8 percent while towables increased 7.9 percent.

The average age of motorized units was eight years old (2013), and towables was seven (2014).
