SuperSprings Supports Nonprofit’s Vehicles in Developing Countries

SuperSprings International

SuperSprings International now supports the Louisville, Kentucky-based nonprofit Institute for Affordable Transportation.

The global, nonprofit organization said its mission is to “bring safe affordable transportation to every person on the planet.” It does this by building Basic Utility Vehicles – BUVS – to give to people in remote areas needing access to water and surrounding communities.

“The BUV has been designed from the ground up to be rugged, affordable, and easy to operate and maintain,” said Will Austin, executive director for the Institute for Affordable Transportation.

BUVs can literally transform lives, according to an American nonprofit that makes them.

As the institute notes, “Rural communities across the world with less access and resources depend on basic transport to transform lives. When a rural community gets connected with a Basic Utility Vehicle (BUV), it can change almost everything. From access to healthcare, food, and marketplaces, to giving children in those communities better access to school and education, BUVs change lives.”

Austin and his team provide a simple, low cost and highly practical vehicle that is entirely based on the needs of the community it serves. That means a solution with longevity and durability – the vehicle is as tough as the terrain it’s made for. BUVs are designed for a wide range of countries because there are varying needs and solutions that make sense. One country may need to have a truck bed to haul food and water to communities that live miles from the source. In another, the greatest need is getting crafted goods and crops to market for the community to create a revenue stream.

“More than anything else at SSI, we’re passionate about people and making life’s journey better for everyone however we can,” said Adam Weisner, SSI president. “This is engrained in the fabric of our company, and supporting an incredible organization like BUV is an honor. Will and the team are enriching the lives of those that don’t have easy access to vehicles like we do here in the US and we’re proud to be a small part of that.”
