AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group, which recently consolidated its brand identity under the name AL-KO VT, is expanding its portfolio with the new MAMMUT GALAXY maneuvering system. The system combines low weight with high speed and precise control, AL-KO VT said in a release. Added to this are a flexible power supply and state-of-the-art technology for comfortable day-to-day maneuvering.
With a system weight starting at 25 kg, the MAMMUT GALAXY features a particularly lightweight design, the company said. Its low weight provides additional flexibility when it comes to the caravan’s payload. When maneuvering, it reaches a speed of more than 1.0 km/h, allowing the caravan to be moved into position quickly and with precision.
AL-KO VT offers the MAMMUT GALAXY for different weight classes. Variants are available for caravans weighing up to 1,800 kg, 2,500 kg or 3,500 kg.
“Our goal was to combine weight, speed and intuitive operation while creating significantly more flexibility in terms of power supply,” said Jörn von Ahlen, head of marketing at AL-KO VT Group.
The newly developed remote control features a clear and minimalist operating concept. A precise joystick enables stepless maneuvering with millimeter-level accuracy, AL-KO said.
Three speed settings offer the right level of control for different situations. A color LCD display clearly shows important information.
Starting, stopping and speed control can be conveniently operated at the touch of a button. An integrated lighting function is also included.
The design of the MAMMUT GALAXY ensures high ground clearance. This means the maneuvering system remains well protected even on uneven ground or ramps. The MAMMUT GALAXY can negotiate obstacles up to four centimeters high. It can also handle gradients of up to 35%.
Fully automatic tire inflation can be activated at the touch of a button. This ensures the correct tire pressure and supports reliable power transmission, the company said.
AL-KO VT also prioritizes flexibility when it comes to the power supply: the control unit supports both traditional 12-volt vehicle batteries and modern 18-volt power tool batteries.
The MAMMUT GALAXY is also compatible with the cross-brand Cordless Alliance System (CAS), meaning that existing 18-volt batteries from various CAS partners can be used. This makes it easy to swap batteries and recharge them using suitable chargers. The control unit can be positioned flexibly within the caravan. An integrated service interface enables diagnostics and software updates.
A planetary gearbox supports the MAMMUT GALAXY’s efficient power transmission. With this technology, AL-KO VT is taking caravan maneuvering to the next level, the company said.
Pre-orders now open
Following its world premiere at the Caravan Salon, the MAMMUT GALAXY is now available for pre-order. The official launch is scheduled for the CMT 2027.
AL-KO VT said it will provide further information on availability and the market launch in due course.
