All-Women’s Tech Classes Slated Throughout 2024

RVTI female techs

After the success of last year’s all-women’s RV technician classes, the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) and the RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) are again partnering to host four more classes this year.

Three of the classes are Level 1 and one is a hybrid Level 2 course with both an online and in-person component.

Attendees of the week-long Level 1 course will gain knowledge of the seven RV systems (propane, electrical, plumbing, appliances, body, generator and chassis). Upon passing the course, they will be equipped to perform RV pre-delivery inspections. Meanwhile, students who pass the Level 2 course will be able to perform diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs on those systems and components.

“These all-female classes and our partnership with the RV Technical Institute over the past two years have been integral to elevating the role of women in the RV technician field,” said Denise Chariya, RVWA chair and THOR Industries marketing director. “This year, we are excited to be offering Level 2 training that will give these women the skills they need to take their careers to the next level.”

A significant disparity remains between the numbers of male and female RV service technicians. As of last year, only 2% of all current RV technicians are women; however, over 30% of people interested in taking the RV Technical Institute’s training courses have been women. As a result, recruiting women into the RV technician field remains a significant area of opportunity.

“We’re looking forward to working with the RV Women’s Alliance again this year to conduct these classes,” says Halle Edmister, RVTI account specialist and RVWA member. “We’ve already been receiving interest in this year’s classes, and we’re excited to be a part of these students’ journeys along the RV technician career path, whether that’s introducing them to this information for the first time or helping them further develop their skills.”
