Bandits Drive Truck Into Dealership

Automotion Motors & RV in Dallas, British Columbia, is picking up the pieces after a vehicle smashed through the front of the business.

This story by Dylana Milobar originally appeared in CFJC Today.

After getting a call from the alarm company around 4:45 a.m., Steve Smith, owner of Automotion Motors & RV in Dallas, said his son went over to check on the business and arrived to smashed glass, and a busted storefront. Surveillance footage shows a white pick-up truck backing into the building, and one suspect running inside afterwards.

“He came out about a minute later carrying something. You can’t really see everything that he was carrying, but definitely the computer is gone,” said Smith. “I’m thinking maybe they were stealing fuel and were thinking that they were stealing the evidence of the video.”

While it’s unclear all that was stolen, Smith said a computer was taken, and several thousand dollars of damage was done to the building.

“Probably $20,000 of damage or more to the building. There’s an unbelievable amount of glass everywhere, and he broke the glass in his canopy,” said Smith. “He probably wrecked a $1,200 canopy at least, used, to do that. So, it’s just unbelievable the stupidity.”

Now handling insurance claims and repair work, Automotion is also working with Kamloops RCMP, and ask anyone with information to call the local detachment at 250-828-3000.
