Care Camps, a national nonprofit foundation that funds over 120 pediatric oncology camps across the U.S. and Canada, announced the celebration of their 40th anniversary.
In conjunction with this milestone, the organization is moving forward with an official name change, Care Camps Foundation.
“As we commemorate our 40th anniversary, we are thrilled to add a very important distinction to our name,” said Gwynn Sullivan, Care Camps Foundation executive director. “Care Camps has essentially functioned as a foundation, and we are pleased to announce our official name change as it reflects our evolution and growth. We remain strongly committed to funding these special camps and believe that Care Camps Foundation more accurately encapsulates the scope and impact of our mission.”
Over the past four decades, Care Camps Foundation raised more than $26 million to support pediatric oncology camps. This past year, the foundation provided $2 million of funding to 122 camps and the Children’s Oncology Camping Association that touched the lives of over 26,000 children and families.
“Reflecting on 40 years of service, we are incredibly grateful to all who have supported us on this journey,” said Mark Lemoine, Care Camps Foundation board chair. “Our 40th anniversary is a testament to the dedication and generosity of our donors, volunteers, staff and other partners. Together, we have accomplished so much, and we look forward to continuing our mission under the banner of Care Camps Foundation.”
The organization said its 40th anniversary year will be marked with events and initiatives to celebrate the impact of the organization and further its vision to provide the opportunity for every child diagnosed with cancer to attend a pediatric oncology camp. A special 40th anniversary publication, fundraising initiatives and commemorative events will be held throughout this year honoring Care Camps Foundation’s legacy and impact.
