Earlier this month, the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) attended Career Quest, an annual career fair hosted by the nonprofit organization Horizon Education Alliance.
This year, the Career Quest was held at the RV/Hall of Fame’s Orthwein Pavilion in Elkhart, Indiana. It was attended by nearly 3,000 7th grade students, who had the opportunity to learn about potential career paths after they graduate high school.
Over 50 companies participated, helping students to explore the various career options. Each company was encouraged to bring a “hands on” activity to help students envision themselves in a certain career. The RV Technical Institute provided an electrical board (the same one used in training sessions with technicians), which the students appreciated.
As one of the companies present, RVTI shared information about the RV technician career path to interested students. The institute also discussed its mission to recruit and train RV technicians.
“The RV Technical Institute was excited to attend the Career Quest and highlight the RV technician career path as a future career option to interested students. As such a large part of the Elkhart community, the RV industry is always looking ahead to the next chapter. We thought this was a great opportunity to share our mission and the importance of techs to the RV industry. Once interested students reach adulthood, they might consider making this their occupation,” said the RV Technical Institute’s Recruitment Administrator Mary Smith, who attended the event.
Many RV Industry Association members were event sponsors, including Brinkley RV, Grand Design RV, Lippert, Gulf Stream Coach and Jayco.
