CDK Global Opens Office in Bay Area

CDK Global, an IT and marketing software maker for the automotive industry led by former Intel Corp. CEO Brian Krzanich, is launching its first Northern California office in North San Jose, Calif.

This story by Janice Bitters originally appeared in Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The company’s new 76,410-square-foot office location at 250 Holger Way will eventually be home to “400-plus” new CDK Global employees, primarily software engineers, data scientists and those working on AI technology, according to Joe Tautges, CFO at Illinois-based CDK Global.

Tautges said Silicon Valley’s talent pool was a major draw: “For sure, it is all about talent, but we think the talent will complement our other locations, as we have quite good tech talent throughout other locations,” said Tautges, who was previously CFO at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.

But when thinking about how to move the company to “the next level,” and widen the net for hard-to-find tech talent, Tautges says, “We landed on the South Bay. When you look at all the expansion going on here, when you look at the talent out here, and the opportunity, it was a no-brainer from our perspective to come out here.”

The two- and three-story buildings at 100, 200, 250, 300 and 350 Holger Way are owned by Newport Beach-based KBS and range in size from 46,000 square feet up to nearly 100,000 square feet.

CDK Global will lease the entire two-story building at 250 Holger Way. The company has already moved into a temporary space in the building and is beginning to seek out employees to fill its new office. The interior improvements to the office are slated to be complete sometime in the fall, Tautges said.
