With less than a few days before its campgrounds open, nonprofit Five Star Life was in need of help before the opening of their camp season. With limited manpower and time, the nonprofit looked to Acts of Service business partners for help.
On June 19, five local companies within various industries came together with more than 100 volunteers rolled up with sleeves despite rainy weather conditions to give their time for the 300-acre campgrounds in Union, Mich.
“To be a part of and see companies coming together to help Five Star Life in a time of need is exactly why Acts of Service was created,” said Michilah Grimes, Acts of Service director. “We continue to connect real-time needs with people in our community who want to give back and get involved. Some businesses even made it into a family event.”
Acts of Service volunteers from business partners Genesis Products, Lippert Components, Specialized Staffing, Welch Packaging and KemKrest all banded together to help put the final touches on all areas of the property. They specifically helped by with weeding, cleaning, organization and camp set up.
“We are grateful for the organizations that participated with Acts of Service at Summit. The volunteers invaded like an army, worked enthusiastically, and accomplished in two hours what would have taken our staff weeks,” said Seth Maust of Five Star Life. “The impact Acts of Service has goes beyond the physical projects that were completed, it’s also a morale boost and shot in the arm for our staff as we head into a busy summer season impacting students.”
