Deadline Is June 1 for Public Input on Updated NFPA Standards

RVIA

The National Fire Protection Association 1192 Standard on RVs and NFPA 1194 Standard for recreational parks and campgrounds are currently accepting public input for the annual 2025 revision cycle (2026 edition). The deadline date for submitting public inputs (code change proposals) on these standards is June 1.

As part of its commitment to continuous safety improvement, the RV Industry Association’s standards department engages and fully participates in the national committee process for maintaining and updating RV and park model RV standards. This includes reviewing and updating existing requirements every three or five years, which enhances the ability of member manufacturers to utilize the latest technology and to install advanced systems and components in their RV and Park Model RV product lines.

Part of updating these existing requirements is opening the suggested revisions to public input. Any member of the public can submit a proposed revision to the code through their online submission system. The system shows any changes made by the submitter in legislative text with strikethrough and underlines representing deleted and added text, respectively.

“We encourage our members to participate in the public input phase through our committee process,” said Bryan Ritchie, vice president of the standards department. “The process of reviewing and updating our standards is essential for our department to continue improving RV safety guidelines, and public input is a significant part of that process. We welcome any thoughts and feedback on the standards’ suggested revisions and we look forward to discussing this further.”

Those with questions on how to be part of the process should reach out to Bryan Ritchievice president of standards, or Curt Richardson, director of inspection services.
