Dicor Products, an Airxcel brand, announces that Polar White, part of the Diflex II family of TPO roof membranes, has received Energy Star Certification. This certification means that Polar White is the only membrane in the RV Market to be awarded Energy Star Certification and is also listed by the Cool Roof Rating Council.
“This is just another example of why Dicor Products is the leader in roofing systems in the RV market,” said Troy Nusbaum, vice president of OEM Sales for Airxcel’s RV Group. “Polar White is in a class of its own. Not only has no other RV roofing membrane passed the requirements to achieve Energy Star Status but Polar White is also the only membrane to be listed by the Cool Roof Rating Council.”
“Energy Star Rated buildings on average use up to 35% less energy than similar buildings. OEM’s are focused on providing cool comfort to their end users and now Dicor can offer a solution with Polar White Diflex II TPO. A cooler coach also means lower operating costs by allowing the AC condenser to run less frequently and in turn offering a quiet, comfortable night at the campground,” commented Anthony Wollschlager, Airxcel Division President for Dicor Products.
Energy Star is a U. S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect the environment. Energy Star certified roof products reflect more of the sun’s rays which can lower roof surface temperature by up to 50°F, decreasing the amount of heat transferred into an RV. Energy Star certified roof products can help reduce the amount of air conditioning needed in RVs and in some cases can reduce the peak cooling demand by 10-15%.
The Cool Roof Rating Council was created in 1998 to develop accurate and credible methods for evaluating and labeling solar reflectivity and thermal emittance of roofing products. Polar White has a high reflectivity of 86%, reflecting more solar radiation than competitive membranes. A Solar Reflective Index of 108, also higher than competitive membranes means Polar White reflects more solar energy and therefore stays cooler. Polar White is the only RV roofing membrane to be listed by the CCRC.
