Dometic recently helped sponsor the What’s Next Program, which was held March 2 and 3.
Fifty college sophomores, juniors, and seniors from top colleges in Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan, and Kentucky spent their weekend exploring the Elkhart area while visiting with representatives from local companies.
The weekend began on Friday evening by transporting students to Goshen, Ind., for the first Friday’s festivities. This gave students the opportunity to experience a fun event in the area that many locals look forward to each month.
On Saturday, the students began with a breakfast held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Lerner Theatre where several companies gave presentations.
A job fair was also part of the event on Saturday. Students were encouraged to network with the recruiters from the attending companies. Dometic received tremendous feedback and made connections with many students interested in engineering and business.
After the job fair, students toured the buildings of several of the sponsors, including Dometic’s Industrial Parkway location. This further sparked an interest in many of the students on the engineering path.
“The What’s Next Program was a fantastic way for Dometic to partner with the Elkhart community and showcase what we have to offer to the next generation of developing talent,” said Dometic Talent Acquisition & Development Specialist, Katrina Kovalski. “We’re excited to continue to partner with the chamber, community, and students in future programs and endeavors.”
At the conclusion of the weekend, a survey was sent out and asked the students their opinion of Elkhart, Ind., before visiting and after visiting, on a scale of 1-10. The average of opinions before experiencing some of the things Elkhart has to offer was a six and after was an eight.
