Robert J. Morris Jr., formerly of Coachmen Homes, among many other successful business ventures, has died in Goshen, Ind., at the age of 88.
An Army veteran, Morris earned a master’s degree from Marshall University and became a research chemist, earning seven patents and having 13 research papers published in various technical journals. He went on to earn another degree from the Harvard Business School and that led to a career change. He moved his family to Middlebury, Ind., and took a job as vice president of engineering at Coachmen Homes. He later became the company’s president.
Morris later went on to found Medallion Plastics from 1976- 1993, a family business operating in Middlebury and Elkhart.
After retirement Morris focused on his true passion in fine art photography, opening his own gallery, publishing several books and receiving several national awards.
