Economic development leaders and experts in Northern Indiana’s St. Joseph County will join the South Bend Tribune on Wednesday evening, July 19, for a virtual community conversation about the impact that a planned $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant will have on the South Bend region.
The hour-long conversation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on the Tribune’s Facebook page here. The public will be able to follow along and ask the panelists questions.
General Motors plans to build the massive plant along with Samsung SDI on 650 acres of agricultural land in Olive Township. The facility will be located at Larrison Boulevard and Indiana 2, just east of New Carlisle.
The plant is expected to support about 2,000 jobs during the two-year construction phase and at least 1,600 permanent jobs when it is completed.
