WASHINGTON, D.C. – RV Industry Association members met with members of Congress over a two-day period on Capitol Hill, discussing many legislative issues, including the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act.
On Wednesday, RVIA hosted a House RV Caucus breakfast at the Rayburn House Office Building foyer.
At that gathering, Forest River’s Don Gunden presented the National Legislative Award to U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R.-Ind.), and several members of Congress spoke briefly about the importance of the RV industry to their districts. Additionally, RVIA Chairman Garry Enyart shared details of a survey commissioned by RVIA showing that the RV industry has an economic impact $114 billion on the economy.
RVIA members subsequently met with their respective senators and congressmen to talk about important legislative issues, including asking their support for outdoor recreation infrastructure, campground modernization and expansion for federal parks, as well as support for the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act (Senate bill 1543), which amends the definition of motorhome to ensure that towable RVs are once again fully included in floorplan interest financing deductibility.
U.S. Sens. Mike Braun (R.-Ind.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) were attendees at the Senate RV Caucus Reception at the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill on Wednesday evening, which was hosted by RVIA.
