Glampers RV Opens in Southern Utah

According to a report from St. George News, after building one of Southern Utah’s most dominant RV dealerships and then selling it to Camping World five years ago, local entrepreneur Scott Nielson is returning to the industry with a new venture called Glampers RV.

Before the acquisition, Nielson RV had grown into one of the region’s leading RV dealerships, generating roughly $50 million in annual revenue. Nielson signed a noncompete agreement during the sale, which recently expired, and now he’s eager to get back in the game.

“The timing’s just perfect, and we’ve seen the opportunity,” he said. “There’s still a big need for it.”

Glampers RV is currently operating out of the 54-acre Nielson Commerce Complex at 505 S. Sand Hollow Road in Hurricane, Utah. The lot is stocked with over 50 pre-owned units, and new inventory is expected soon. The office is already open for business and offering a variety of financing options. Every RV purchase also includes a complimentary two-night stay at the nearby Jellystone Park Zion.

Meanwhile, Nielson has signed a contract for a premier 15-acre commercial site along Pioneer Road adjacent to the freeway in St. George. This brand-new flagship dealership, strategically located near Walmart and just minutes from the former Nielson RV site, is being developed by Nielson Development and aims to redefine the RV retail experience in Southern Utah.

The new facility is expected to open this fall or winter. Much like Nielson RV, Glampers RV will provide sales, service, parts, consignment, rentals and an extensive selection of new and used units, plus Nielson’s popular RV Warranty Forever program. The goal is to provide a seamless process for customers, from purchasing an RV to maintaining it through all the adventures to come.

Glampers RV aims to address gaps in the current market, particularly in service turnaround times and customer care. One of Nielson’s key priorities is improving the speed and efficiency of RV repairs. The facility will also include a paint booth and collision repair capabilities, features not commonly found at regional dealerships.

“The vision of Glampers RV is to give the camper the best experience possible,” he said. “They’re buying recreation, and they’re going to go out and have fun. And we want to be able to give them that.”

Plans are also in the works for a 425-foot flagpole that, if approved, would be the tallest freestanding flagpole in North America. Resurrecting the massive American flag that always flew over Nielson RV is a promise Nielson made to the community when the dealership closed, and he intends to keep it.

With Southern Utah’s outdoor recreation economy continuing to grow, the project is poised to bring jobs and investment to Washington County.

The launch of Glampers RV is also rooted in a personal mission. Nielson plans to involve his seven children directly in the company, creating a family-centered operation to teach valuable business skills and provide long-term career opportunities close to home.
