A Goshen, Indiana, company is facing $42,000 in proposed fines for repeat safety violations involving cutting machines, reported Jordan Fouts in The Elkhart Truth.
Foremost Fabricators, maker of aluminum and laminated products for the RV market, was given proposed penalties totaling $42,000 following a state safety inspection. The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) carried out the inspection between January and March.
IOSHA issued a safety order and notification of penalty in June, following the inspections at 2882 Hackberry Drive. The order contains two serious violations, including one repeat offense. The repeat violation involves employees being exposed to the point of operation on a shearing machine due to a lack of guarding. Foremost Fabricators was previously cited for the same issue in May 2021 at a location at 3125 Maple City Drive, according to the order.
The citation carries a proposed penalty of $35,000 this time. The other serious violation is for the same lack of guarding on three other machines. It carries a proposed penalty of $5,000.
The company was given until July 26 to abate both violations.
