Current and aspiring campground operators will soon have a chance to explore the feasibility of owning and operating their own Jellystone Park Camp-Resort.
Leisure Systems will hold a “Prospective Owners Workshop” from Sept. 15-16 at the award-winning Jellystone Park in Tabor City, N.C. The two-day workshop will include seminars designed for people thinking of going into the campground business, as well as existing campground owners who are considering joining the Jellystone Park network.
The workshop will examine the different types of campgrounds, including destination parks, seasonal campgrounds and membership parks. It will also cover the key questions prospective campground owners need to know, such as:
- Is it better to buy an existing campground or build one?
- What type of campground should I purchase?
- How much will it cost?
- Should I consider joining a franchise to help me?
- How does the conversion process work for existing campgrounds?
- What kind of marketing and operational support can a franchise network provide?
- What kind of ancillary revenue can be generated by being part of the Jellystone Park franchise network?
- Is this the right decision for my family?
“This two-day workshop is a unique opportunity for current and aspiring campground operators to explore the feasibility of owning and operating a campground that’s affiliated with Jellystone Park franchise network,” said Kelly Jones, Leisure Systems’ VP of operations. “We design these workshops to help prospective park operators determine if owning and operating a Jellystone Park is the right fit for them.”
Milford, Ohio-based Leisure Systems franchises 84 Jellystone Park campgrounds with more than 18,000 campsites and vacation rentals across the U.S. and Canada.
The Jellystone Park franchise network was ranked number one in the campground category in 2017 and 2018 by Entrepreneur magazine. It was also ranked among the top 50 franchises in the country in terms of franchise satisfaction by Franchise Business Review. In addition, the Jellystone Park network was ranked among the top 100 franchises in the country by Franchise Gator.
Jellystone Park locations averaged 11 percent year-over-year growth in 2017. The typical Jellystone Park location also generates 30 percent of its income from ancillary items such as food, merchandise and activity fees.
Several instructors at the two-day workshop are past campground owners and have taught classes at industry conventions and ARVC’s National School of RV Park and Campground Management. They will share industry insights along with other Jellystone Park operators and provide tools for you to make an educated purchase decision. Finance and insurance company representatives will also be available to provide information about their requirements and processes.
The cost of the Prospective Owners Workshop is $350 per couple and includes two nights in a premium luxury cottage at the Tabor City Jellystone Park lunch on Saturday; a campfire and social on Saturday night; and a two-hour tour of the Tabor City Jellystone Park on Sunday with the park’s general manager.
