Kampgrounds of America has added the Cape Charles/Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort in Virginia to its 500-plus campground KOA system in North America.
“The Cape Charles/Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort is an absolutely beautiful location, and provides our KOA guests with yet another wonderful place to enjoy their camping lifestyle,” said KOA President and CEO Pat Hittmeier. “There is nothing like the Chesapeake Bay, and this park offers just the type of experience our campers love.”
The campground has its own private beach and is surrounded by a 1,700-acre National Wildlife Refuge. The campground has 316 full-service, 50-amp sites, along with seven deluxe cabins and five safari-style glamping tents. The campground also has the Jackspot Bar and Grill, a full-service restaurant right on the beach.
The north end of the campground’s beach area is reserved as an off-leash area for dogs and owners to play on the sand and in the water. There’s also an off-leash dog park at the resort.
“First and foremost, we’re incredibly proud to be the first KOA on the Chesapeake Bay, in addition to adding another unique camping experience to the rapidly growing portfolio along the east coast,” said Todd Burbage, founder of Blue Water Development. “Our partnership with KOA has been tremendous.”
The Cape Charles/Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort, located at 32246 Lankford Highway in Cape Charles, Va., will officially open for the season on Friday, March 30.
