Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) added two location to its family of campgrounds.
The first is Milford Lake KOA Holiday. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the storied lakeside destination and promises continued investment in the campground’s infrastructure and guest experience, KOA said.
Situated along the shores of Milford Lake, Kansas, the Milford Lake KOA Holiday welcomes guests for boating, fishing and outdoor adventure. The campground has cultivated a deeply loyal following, with generations of campers returning year after year, some for more than 35 consecutive years, making it a cherished tradition for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
“KOA’s reputation for quality and consistency aligned perfectly with our vision for this property,” said Bill Glennon, manager of the Milford Lake KOA Holiday. “We acquired the campground last year because we saw an opportunity to honor its legacy while elevating the experience for both returning campers and new families making lakeside memories for the first time.”
Since taking ownership, the team has invested in meaningful upgrades, including installing cable television and Wi-Fi service at every campsite. These improvements, combined with the campground’s stunning lakeside setting and the traditions families have built here, position Milford Lake KOA Holiday as a premier destination for generations to come, KOA said.
Campgrounds like the Borden / Summerside KOA Journey have a significant economic and cultural impact on local communities. According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, campers injected $66 billion into local economies in 2025, with the average camper spending more than $200 daily while camping. Campers are looking to experience the history and culture of local regions, 33% say they are interested in visiting small towns, and another 38% are drawn to historic sites.
The Milford Lake KOA Holiday offers lake-view campsites, a beach for swimming, direct boat access and a dock for launching, positioning it as a premier destination for fishing, boating and water recreation. The property’s proximity to Fort Riley (less than 20 miles away) and other regional landmarks adds further appeal for visitors exploring the area.
Looking forward, the ownership team is investing in growth that honors the campground’s community-focused identity. Plans include expanding accommodations with additional Deluxe Patio RV sites, cabins and premium tent sites, while creating new gathering spaces designed to strengthen the connections that have defined the property for decades.
Milford Lake KOA Holiday is one of more than 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. Located at 302 Whiting Street in Milford, the Milford Lake KOA Holiday is open April 1 to Oct. 31.

At the Emlenton / Allegheny KOA Journey, campers will find amenities designed for both convenience and recreation, including 50-amp service, RV sites that can accommodate rigs up to 130 feet, Wi-Fi, propane, firewood, a pavilion and KampK9. Recreational amenities include a heated swimming pool, fishing pond, rec hall and arcade, playground, basketball court, shuffleboard, cornhole and a Gaga Ball pit. The campground is also continuing renovations to make short-term sites more big-rig friendly and plans to upgrade its playground this summer.
