MARVAC Technical Training Begins Dec. 10

The Michigan Association of RVs and Campgrounds (MARVAC) is providing free RV technical training classes Dec. 10-12 at the association’s office in Okemos, Mich.

“As a benefit to our members, especially the dealers and service centers, we are bringing in experts to provide one-day trainings covering multiple National RV Dealer Association/RV Industry Association-certified courses,” said Darren Ing, director of MARVAC. “Ultimately, RV owners will benefit most from the extra education provided.”

The RV Technical Institute, a division of RVDA/RVIA, has developed multiple training modules on a variety of courses covering everything from propane, electrical and plumbing systems to chassis, towing and RV body components.

“The new curriculum has been in the making for almost two years with hundreds of hours of volunteered work by some of the RV industries best,” said Curt Hemmeler, executive director of RVTI. “The curriculum has been broken into seven courses and 38 modules to give the most flexibility for the learner to focus on one area or on one class in particular.”

Each day of training at the MARVAC offices will cover multiple topics from fifth wheel hitch applications and installations to gas detectors and regulators to advanced mobile power technology. Programs and vendors include PullRite, MorRyde, MTI Safety Alert, MEC, XANTREX, AP/Bauer, King, SikaFlex and AirLift. A full listing of the training schedule can be found here.

“Technical training has been important and critical to our industry’s success for many years, but it is even more important now,” said Terry Goddard of Tom Manning & Associates. “We need to give the technicians the information they need to get the job done properly, safely and quickly. It is important for the technicians to take advantage of this training as they will receive certification hours, information and materials to help them with their jobs.”

There is no cost to MARVAC members in good standing to attend one of the all-day educational opportunities. Lunch for participants is provided. Classes are limited to 50 people.
