The Frankenmuth Jellystone Park in Michigan has won a national award for achieving the highest assessment ratings in the 80-unit Jellystone Park franchise network.
The Frankenmuth campground was one of five Jellystone Parks that won The Carroll Award from Leisure Systems, the Milford, Ohio-based company that franchises 80 Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada.
Four other Jellystone Parks in Bremen, Ga.; Mill Run, Pa.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Tabor City, N.C., also received the award after tying each other’s scores for the highest franchise assessment ratings.
“It is a real honor for us to receive this recognition,” said Cindy Keinath, a second-generation co-owner of the Jellystone Park who works at the 250-site park.
Keinath said her family has been making significant campground improvements during the past two years. A new swimming pool and upgrades to the park’s mini golf course were completed by late 2016, but 2017 was the first year the new amenities were available throughout the camping season.
Keinath said the improvements have paid off with the park experiencing a 10-percent increase in business in 2017 compared to the previous year.
“Our business outlook is great,” she said, adding that her family plans to focus on retiling the park’s restrooms and other cosmetic improvements in preparation for the 2018 camping season.
