New Bern KOA Holiday Earns Two RVshare ‘Campies’ Awards
Kampgrounds of America (KOA) celebrated the New Bern KOA Holiday in New Bern, North Carolina, for being named Best Waterfront Campground and Best Campground Features and Amenities in RVshare’s 2026 ‘Campies,’ a national awards program recognizing standout campgrounds across the U.S. The riverfront campground was the only nominee to take home two awards this year, KOA said in a recent release.

Now in its fifth year, the Campers’ Choice Awards, known as the “Campies,” drew thousands of nominations across 16 categories, with winners decided by public vote.
These recent awards add to a long list of honors for the campground, including recently being recognized as a 2026 KOA ICON Award recipient, a distinction reserved for the top 10% of KOA campgrounds across North America, and a 2026 KOA World Class Guest Service honoree. KOA also named the New Bern KOA Holiday its Campground of the Year in 2019, KOA said.
That guest service shows up in the numbers. The New Bern KOA Holiday holds a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 95. NPS, a cross-industry loyalty metric, measures how likely guests are to recommend a business to friends and family, on a scale from -100 to 100. KOA said it considers anything above 70 world class; a score of 95 means the campground goes above and beyond to ensure each guest stay is exemplary.
“Our team works hard every day to make sure every guest feels welcome, safe and cared for from the moment they arrive. These awards belong to them,” said Bonnie Day, director of operations at the New Bern KOA Holiday. “Being awarded for our waterfront and our amenities is a thrill, but what we’re proudest of is seeing the same campers come back to visit us year after year.”
Set along the Neuse River in eastern North Carolina, the New Bern KOA Holiday offers more than 100 RV sites, deluxe cabins and tent sites. Campers can fish from the 100-foot pier or catch-and-release ponds, kayak the river, join campground activities, relax at the pool and take in sunsets over the water. Historic downtown New Bern is less than 10 minutes away, with local restaurants and shops, Tryon Palace, trolley tours and the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola.
“Being recognized by RVshare is a real honor,” said Micah Tomaselli, owner of New Bern KOA Holiday. “Knowing that campers across the country voted for us tells us that what we’ve built here stands out; it introduces the outdoors and our community to a whole new audience of campers.”
The New Bern KOA Holiday is one of more than 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds across the U.S. and Canada. KOA Holiday campgrounds are ideal base camps for exploring the local area or simply enjoying a fun-filled stay with plenty of activities and recreation on-site, KOA said.
Located at 1565 B St. in New Bern, the New Bern KOA Holiday is open all year.
