Newmar Corp. recently surprised Ramco Engineering as the winner of its Virgil Miller Award of Excellence for 2020. The award was presented to Ramco employees at the company’s Elkhart, Ind. plant Oct. 16 and included a surprise lunch from Ricky’s Taco Truck.
The Virgil Miller award is presented to Newmar’s top supplier each year at an annual banquet. This year’s banquet was cancelled due to COVID-19.
“Ramco is very deserving of this prestigious award,” said Matt McQuown, vice president of supply chain for Newmar. “Their support and commitment to Newmar is evident in the delivery, quality, and service they present to us each day.”
Newmar said its award is based on data from surveys measuring each supplier in multiple categories. A cross-functional review and scoring by Newmar’s purchasing, manufacturing, quality, service and engineering departments results in cumulative scores.
In addition, specific individuals are recognized for the service, dedication and commitment to Newmar. Ramco Account Manager, Brian Paul, was recognized the same day as winner of the top salesperson for 2020.
“Brian works hard every day making sure every project goes smoothly,” said Tonya Avery, Newmar purchasing agent. “He’s here at all hours of the day and night to support the line, purchasing, engineering, or wherever he is needed.”
“Both Ramco and Brian are critical to Newmar’s continued success,” said Matt Miller, Newmar president. “In the pandemic of 2020 it’s very difficult for the supply base to continue servicing at a high level, and both Ramco and Brian have done that for Newmar.
Other winners of annual awards for Top 10 Supplier, Customer Service, Engineering Innovation, Manufacturing Support, and Top Driver, will be presented to multiple companies in the coming weeks in individual presentations. Newmar will return to their customary annual banquet format for 2021.
