The latest monthly shipment report compiled by the RV Industry Association’s survey of manufacturers finds November’s shipments down 50.4% from last November, as the record numbers set in 2021 have spent most of the back half of 2022 coming back down to more normal levels.
Industry-wide, 24,445 RV units were shipped in November, compared to 49,285 a year ago.
Year-to-date through November, RV shipments are down 15.6% compared with a year ago, when there were 472,691 wholesale shipments. Final numbers for the year are not available yet, but according to the latest quarterly forecast prepared by ITR Economics, 2022 is likely to finish around the same number of shipments as were recorded in 2019.
“RV shipments are continuing to normalize off of last year’s record numbers and 2022 is looking to be the third-highest year for RV shipments, in spite of challenging macroeconomic factors impacting the industry and economy at large,” said RV Industry Association President and CEO Craig Kirby. “The industry remains focused on serving our existing customers, many who have entered the RV lifestyle for the first time in the past few years and expanding the pool of consumers interested in purchasing a new RV in the coming years.”
Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down 53.5% against last November with 20,502 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month down 24.7% compared to the same month last year with 3,943 units.
Park Model RVs finished November up 35.9% compared to the same month last year, with 394 wholesale shipments. To date, park model RVs are up 18% with 4,341 shipments.
