The Washington D.C.-based Outdoor Recreation Roundtable presents Valerie Heath-Harrison with the Bureau of Reclamation 2020 Legends Award for outstanding work to improve outdoor recreation experiences and opportunities for the American people.
Initially presented in 1991, Legends Award honorees are nominated by their peers and the awards are given to individuals whose extraordinary efforts have made a concrete difference in enhancing outdoor recreation programs and resources.
“We are thrilled to recognize Valerie Heath-Harrison as the Bureau of Reclamation’s 2020 Legend,” said Jessica (Wahl) Turner, executive director of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. “Over the last 18 years as an Outdoor Recreation Planner, Valerie’s extraordinary efforts to expand and enhance outdoor recreational opportunities have connected disadvantaged youth with the outdoors, improved facilities across the Upper Colorado Basin and much more.”
“Providing access to public lands is an essential function for Reclamation,” said Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman. “On behalf of the entire Reclamation team, congratulations to Valerie Heath-Harrison as our 2020 Legends Award recipient. Valerie represents Reclamation’s commitment to supporting recreation.”
