Jessica (Wahl) Turner, executive director of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable, will be testifying in front of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee this week to discuss the broad impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on users of the nation’s public lands and the outdoor recreation economy.
Turner will discuss the results of ORR’s latest member survey of 21 participating national outdoor recreation trade associations, representing more than 23,000 businesses with nearly 2 million employees. Ninety-five percent of the respondents reported decreased revenues. She will also outline the various ways the outdoor recreation industry has stepped up to help with PPP production as well as support front-line workers; and she will talk about what steps she believes Congress can take to support outdoor recreation and the business community that relies on public lands and waters.
Turner ‘s appearance before the Senate committee takes place Thursday morning in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington D.C.
