Outdoorsy has been named one of America’s Best Startup Employers in 2020 by Forbes Media, in partnership with leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista. Forbes recently released its inaugural listing of the best 500 startup companies to work for in the U.S.
“It is our highest goal to delight our customers and provide them with amazing, inspirational memories. In parallel with that goal is that our leadership team views our employee base at Outdoorsy as our most vital and important investment the company has,” said Jeff Cavins, Outdoorsy’s co-founder and CEO. “We want each of our employees to feel personally invested in the company and personally committed to our mission and our customers. Our eyes and ears are always open for new ways we can give our team a more positive environment to innovate and be creative – a culture where they will be most comfortable and confident to express their ideas and values and where they will always have their voice heard, understood, and valued.”
Forbes and Statista analyzed more than 7 million data points to identify the top startup employers. In particular, three aspects of each company were assessed during the evaluation: employer reputation, employee satisfaction, and company growth. Out of the thousands of qualified organizations in the U.S., 500 companies earned this distinction.
“Although our employee workplace continues to grow and diversify each day, our core values and the level of priority we place on company culture has remained the same since day one,” said Rik Avalos, Outdoorsy’s VP of people and talent. “We have doubled in size year over year and that means we’re constantly onboarding new personalities and working through new team dynamics. Distinctions of this kind are a testament to the hard work put in by each of our teammates every day to make Outdoorsy a standout place to work.”
In February, Outdoorsy was named by renowned venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz as the third fastest-growing travel marketplace, earning the No. 28 spot on the Marketplace 100, a ranking of the largest and fastest-growing consumer-facing marketplace startups and private companies. In 2019, Outdoorsy’s co-founder and chief marketing officer, Jen Young, was also ranked on Forbes’ CMO Next 2019 list, a compilation of 50 CMOs who are redefining the CMO role and who embody all that the role is becoming, can be and will be in the future. Additionally, Outdoorsy’s Employee Trip Program – where each employee receives four paid road trips a year – was highlighted by Fast Company as one of the top CEO initiatives for moving the needle in 2020.
Since its launch in 2015, Outdoorsy has experienced exponential growth with more than $500 million transacted through the site and more than 5.35 million years of booked vacation travel. In 2019 alone, Outdoorsy announced its $50 million Series C funding, the launch of Outdoorsy’s vehicle purchase program and the launch of Outdoorsy’s owner and renter app for iOS and owner app for Android.
