The delta variant, a more contagious and deadly strain of the COVID-19 virus, is spreading quickly throughout Indiana and is now the most dominant strain.
Indiana public health officials made the announcement this week and said they are particularly concerned about residents who are still not vaccinated.
About 70 percent of the positive COVID-19 samples tested this month have been the delta variant, according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard. This represents an increase of nearly 40 percent from the previous month.
