‘RV Out West’ Podcast Celebrates 200 Episodes
The Pacific Northwest RV community is celebrating a rare milestone as the independently produced podcast “RV Out West” releases its 200th episode, marking five years of independent podcasting focused on RV life, travel and real experiences across the region, show coordinators said in a recent release.
To commemorate the achievement, host and creator Brooks Smothers is marking the occasion in a personal way with a commemorative tattoo honoring the podcast and the community that has supported it from the beginning. The permanent tribute serves as a lasting reminder of 200 episodes of stories, interviews and conversations focused on travel and exploration in the Pacific Northwest.
Since its launch, “RV Out West” has focused on the people, places and experiences that define RV travel across Washington, Oregon and Idaho, show coordinators said. The show highlights real-world travel experiences, campground life, boondocking, maintenance insights and the people who make up the RV community. Each episode has highlighted the full spectrum of the RV lifestyle with an emphasis on authenticity, accessibility and regional discovery.
Over the years, the podcast has featured a wide range of guests including RV industry leaders, full-time RV families, campground owners, repair specialists, outdoor educators and long-time travelers. These conversations have helped the show become a consistent source of insight for both experienced RVers and those new to the lifestyle.
Host Smothers, based in Snohomish County, Washington, is a long-time storyteller and outdoor enthusiast who created “RV Out West” to document the realities of RV travel in the Pacific Northwest. His work blends practical travel guidance with personal narrative, highlighting both the challenges and rewards of life on the road. Smothers has built a reputation for approachable, honest conversations that reflect the evolving RV community in the region.
The podcast has also reached notable industry recognition. “RV Out West” ranks in the top 25 percent of podcasts worldwide in downloads and listens and is ranked No. 13 on Feedspot’s list of the 50 Best Camping Podcasts.
The 200-episode milestone places the show in rare company, show coordinators said. According to the PodMatch Podcasting Industry Report, only 3.40% of podcasts reach 200 episodes, making this achievement a significant marker by placing “RV Out West” in a small and notable category of long-running independent shows.
As the podcast enters its next chapter, Smothers said, “As we mark 200 episodes, the focus of RV Out West remains exactly the same. We’re going to keep telling stories from the road, sharing my passion for the Pacific Northwest, and elevating voices across the RV community. We’ll continue to explore everything this region has to offer through the lens of travel and outdoor living, just like we always have.”
The 200th episode of “RV Out West” is available on all major podcast platforms (Apple, Amazon, Audible, Spotify and more.)
