RV Retailer has reported that it acquired 17 stores in six states in the first quarter of 2021, all of them east of the Mississippi River.

The company picked up 12 dealerships in one fell swoop in early January, when it bought out Cincinnati-based Family RV Group, with stores in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia. The company simultaneously announced buying Northgate RV Center, with dealerships in Knoxville, Tenn., and in Ringgold, Ga.

“These stores will be part of the Eastern Region of RVR under the leadership of Don Strollo, president of the Eastern Region,” said president and CEO Jon Ferrando. “We are pleased that Steve and Chuck Jung will continue to manage the Family RV Group stores under Don’s direction. The Jung family founded the business in Cincinnati as Colerain RV in 1968 and has been providing exceptional customer service for 52 years. The Yates family founded Northgate RV 26 years ago, and we are pleased that key Yates family members will stay on in key positions with the Northgate RV business.”

In late January RV Retailer announced it had acquired Bill Plemmons RV World, the second-largest new volume RV dealer group in North Carolina, with locations in Winston-Salem and Raleigh.

“The Plemmons family founded the business in 1951. We are honored to add an iconic family brand in North Carolina that has been providing exceptional customer service to RVers for over 70 years,” Ferrando said.

Steve Plemmons of Bill Plemmons RV World said, “This is an exciting next chapter for Bill Plemmons RV World to join with RV Retailer and its family of stores. Shawna and Sterling, my children, will continue to lead the stores and I look forward to watching them continue to grow with the RV Retailer team. I know our store associates are excited with the new growth opportunities ahead.”

In February, RV Retailer announced the acquisition of Carolina Coach & Camper in Claremont, N.C., a family-owned dealership selling and servicing RVs for more than 25 years.

That was the company’s sixth store in North Carolina and it now has 55 stores in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
