This past weekend, members of the RV Women’s Alliance gathered at the RV Technical Institute as the group’s “Drab to Fab” renovation project started back up following a brief hiatus. The restart kicks off the final two-month sprint to the finish as female volunteers from across the RV industry take an RV from drab to fab using some of the best RV accessories and RV products on the market today.
“The RV Technical Institute has been critical to the success of the Drab to Fab project by providing the perfect location for the renovation,” said RV Women’s Alliance President Susan Carpenter. “This past weekend women from East to West worked on everything from plumbing and lighting to removing exterior graphics. It is really impressive what can be accomplished in a day with these small, dedicated groups of volunteers.”
Drab to Fab is the RV Women’s Alliance’s current signature program which has united its membership and industry around a shared goal, inspired women to get out of their comfort zone and literally break down walls. The organization said it is also developing new skills in project volunteers. The program is also the basis for an upcoming program to recruit new women into the RV industry.
“Working with the RV Women’s Alliance just makes sense for us since in many ways our missions are very similar, particularly when it comes to bringing new people into the RV workforce,” said RV Technical Institute Executive Director Curt Hemmeler. “Over the past few months, it has been awesome to see women from across the industry working together to transform the RV here at our Elkhart headquarters and we cannot wait to see the final product.”
“Companies from across the RV industry have really supported this project and our female volunteers,” said RV Women’s Alliance Vice President Jordyn Foos. “From product sponsors and team sponsors to our Gold Sponsor Airxcel and Silver Sponsor Patrick Industries, this support has allowed us to rebuild the RV into a travel trailer everyone will want.”
All female members of the RV Women’s Alliance are encouraged to sign up to participate in one of the builds.
On June 23, the finished RV will be unveiled at a VIP Reveal Event taking place at the RV Hall of Fame. The fully renovated and redesigned RV will be raffled off to one lucky winner.
