Last week, on the front end of the RV Leadership Conference, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) board of directors held its first meeting of 2024.

The board is the highest-level authority in the association’s overall organizational structure and is responsible for setting and overseeing strategy and policies related to critical topics such as standards, marketing, government affairs, industry education, statistical data and association finances.

With a packed agenda, the board covered many topics related to the ongoing industry support for the RV Technical Institute, the Go RVing marketing campaign, critical government affairs updates, and membership and governance topics. The board also heard updates on the Emerging Leaders Coalition which has been a driving force behind the RV Leadership Conference.

During the meeting, the board voted to approve the creation of a Workplace Safety Committee, which will be a dedicated and proactive group made up of industry representatives, safety professionals and association staff that is committed to promoting the well-being and safety of all individuals within the workplace. While the industry has been working together to prioritize workplace safety for years through the Workplace Safety Taskforce, by elevating the work to a standing committee, the board signifies the industry’s long-term commitment to workplace safety and the well-being of all those working in our industry.

Also during the conference, the newly formed RV Campground Coalition held their first in-person meeting and began setting goals around how to unify the entire industry around the importance of campgrounds to the current and future health of RV camping.

The next meeting of the RV Industry Board of Directors will take place during RVs Move America Week on Thursday, June 6.
