RVIA: RV Shipments Expected to Stabilize in 2027 Following Challenging 2026

rvia roadsigns report

The fall 2026 issue of RV RoadSigns, prepared by ITR Economics for the RV Industry Association, projects wholesale RV shipments to finish 2026 at approximately 290,000 units (range of 284,600 – 295,400 units) before stabilizing at a relatively flat 285,000 units in 2027 (range of 274,700 – 295,300 units).

The 290,000-unit level would be a 15.3% decline from the 342,220 units shipped in 2025. RV shipment declines are expected to moderate during the first half of 2027, with year-over-year quarterly growth returning in the second half.

“The latest RV RoadSigns forecast reflects the challenging economic environment facing consumers and the RV industry, while pointing toward a more stable market in 2027,” said Craig Kirby, RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby. “Persistent inflation, elevated interest rates, higher fuel prices, and broader economic and geopolitical uncertainty have weighed on consumer confidence and purchasing power, particularly for larger discretionary purchases. These pressures have contributed to softer retail demand and more conservative ordering by RV dealers.”

Importantly, the forecast notes that the RV industry has maintained disciplined inventory levels, with retail registrations outpacing wholesale shipments over the past 12 months. This inventory alignment, combined with expectations for gradually improving economic conditions, should help establish a more stable foundation in 2027 and position the industry to respond as consumer demand strengthens.”
