The RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA), an organization dedicated to fostering the next generation of RV industry leaders and innovators, recently launched “Drab To Fab,” a project aimed at bringing women from different sectors of the RV industry together in a collaborative rebuild of a pre-owned travel trailer. RVWA is actively seeking a generous donor to provide a structurally sound, ‘previously loved’ travel trailer for this project.
“Drab To Fab is a collaborative effort among industry professionals to shine light on the women working in the RV industry and encourage more women to pursue careers in the industry,” said RVWA Executive Director Sandy Ellingson. “It is also one of the strategic goals of our organization.”
“The project is focused on raising awareness of the educational opportunities available through the RV Technical Institute and the various career opportunities in the RV industry,” added RVWA President Susan Carpenter. “Women involved in the build will gain new skills, develop a mentor-mentee relationship, network, and experience something new in the RV world”.
The build will begin this fall and continue through March 2021 at the RV Technical Institute in Elkhart, Ind. The completed RV will be unveiled at the 2021 Girl Camper/RVWA Jamboree and be raffled off to raise funds for the RV Women’s Alliance.
Ideally, the organization said, the donated, pre-owned travel trailer will be a structurally sound, half-ton towable, under 6,500 pounds with a basic floor plan, and have a clean title. The donation could be tax deductible.
