Trade Representative Proposes New Tariff List on Chinese Products

As part of the U.S. response to China’s unfair trade practices, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has released a proposed list of products from China that may be hit with 25 percent retaliatory duties. The RV Industry Association is looking for information on which products on the list are of greatest concern to the industry so that we can file comments with the USTR by the May 11 comment deadline.

The USTR has stated that the announcement of the draft list starts a 60-day period to consider public comment and finalize the list. It is expected that comments will be filed requesting the USTR to remove items from the retaliation list.

However, it is noted that USTR is attempting to reach $50 billion worth of Chinese imports in the final retaliation list, as promised by President Trump last month. This means that if parties are successful in having products removed from the retaliation list, the USTR may add new products onto the list that do not appear on this draft list.

For further information and to provide feedback on products of great concern, contact Mike Ochs at mochs@rvia.org.
