Forest River faces more than $20,000 in fines after a recent safety inspection by the state labor department.
The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration found a serious repeat violation at the Sierra Sandpiper plant at 2012 Century Drive in Goshen. The employer did not ensure that each employee on a walkway was protected from falling 4 feet or more by a guardrail, according to the Elkhart Truth.
The report was published Nov. 14 following inspections conducted between Oct. 1 and Nov. 2.
The order gives a proposed penalty of $17,500. It also notes that the violation was corrected at the time of inspection.
IOSHA also issued two serious violations with a proposed penalty of $5,000 each to Lippert Components. The safety order was published Dec. 7 following an inspection on Oct. 22 at a plant at 1206 Eisenhower Drive.
One citation was issued for failure to provide a method of machine guarding to protect the operator and other employees from hazards
The second violation was issued for failure to maintain warning labels that inform operators of a bender machine of hazards such as pinch points.
