U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, from Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District, will be on hand to help open the brand-new RV Technical Institute on Sept. 23. The Grand Opening celebration will feature an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. followed by tours of the new facility that features seven classrooms and 10,000 square feet of bay space for hands-on technical training.
“Northern Indiana is the RV Capital of the World, and Hoosiers know the RV industry plays a key role in growing our economy and is leading the way to strengthen our manufacturing workforce for the 21st century,” said Walorski. “The grand opening of the RVTI in Elkhart will mark the beginning of a new chapter in American manufacturing, and I look forward to celebrating this exciting occasion.”
The grand opening of the RVTI’s education hub in Elkhart, along with the completion of the level one curriculum is a first step in solving the industry’s shortage of trained technicians and the RV industry and the Elkhart community are committed to addressing the nationwide need for qualified service technicians, according to the RV Industry Association.
“We’re honored that Rep. Walorski can join us during the grand opening of the RVTI this September,” said Curt Hemmeler, executive director of RVTI. “The RV industry is proud to lead the way in showing how the development of technical skills can lead to long-lasting and rewarding careers.”
Throughout Open House week, tours of the new facility at 3333 Middlebury St., Elkhart, Ind., will be provided to dealers, manufacturers and suppliers. Members of the RV industry interested in attending the ceremony or a tour of the facility during Open House week may sign up here.
