“Motorhome values declined quite a bit last month, continuing an overall trend that first emerged in mid-2022. Towables were less volatile, with their values falling slightly for the fifth consecutive month. Auction volume was down quite a bit, which is typical during this time of year. We’re starting to see more of the units that were sold new during the ‘Covid market’ showing up for sale at the auctions,” said Eric Lawrence, principal analyst with Black Book.
Taking a closer look at the markets, the average selling price for motorized units was $53,896 which is down $9,916 (15.6%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $18,294, down $647 (3.4%) from last month. One year ago, the average motorhome sold for $68,565 and the average towable unit brought $18,529.
Auction volume was lower: motorhomes decreased 14.3% while towables dropped 16.5%.
The average age of motorhomes was nine years old (2015) and towables was six (2018).
