2026 Women in Business: Teresa Herndon
Co-Owner & VP of Administration | Arrowhead Camper Sales
Teresa oversees the financial operations of Arrowhead Camper Sales, including payroll, floorplanning, tax management and general bookkeeping. She also supports the sales process by assisting customers during deal closings and providing front‑end customer service.
Under her financial leadership, Arrowhead Camper Sales has never operated in the red, her nominator says. For a 54‑year‑old family‑owned business, to remain consistently profitable is an extraordinary achievement.
Teresa mentors two young women who represent the future of Arrowhead Camper Sales, and her impact goes far beyond day‑to‑day guidance. She shows up with unwavering encouragement, helping establish confidence in their abilities and reminding them that they belong in this industry. “Whether we’re facing new challenges or celebrating small wins, Teresa is the steady, compassionate presence we can always count on. Her belief in us has shaped not only our growth in the RV industry, but also the kind of professionals we aspire to become,” her nominator says.
Losing the founder of the business — and more importantly, Teresa’s father — in 2019 brought challenges that few could have navigated with the grace she demonstrated. Murrell Fitzgerald left an immeasurable void at the shop, and customers often said he left the biggest shoes to fill. Teresa stepped into that responsibility with quiet strength and remarkable capability. She assumed nearly all duties her father once handled, while continuing to manage her own daily responsibilities without hesitation or complaint. Her resilience, dedication and unwavering commitment not only honored her father’s legacy but ensured the continued success and stability of the business he built.
Outside of work, Teresa is constantly serving others. She is a bible class teacher at Northside Church of Christ, supports multiple local charities and school programs for less fortunate families, and enjoys spending time with her own family.
Teresa’s advice for up-and-coming women in the RV industry:
I would advise you to get out of your office chair. Your role or position is not too important for you to meet your customers and employees. Learn about them and from them. Take time to shake their hand, tell them thank you and how much you appreciate them.
Make sure you take time out for your community. Participate in community events. Donate to your local schools and nonprofits. Find the organization that could use just a little more financial help or back labor.
Our motto hasn’t changed through the years. God first, others second and RVs third. When your priorities are in the right order everything else falls into place.
We are part of an industry that is like no other. With today’s technology and examples of women from the past there is no limit to what you can do. The last thought I have is from the great Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to purse them.”
What it means to Teresa to be a Women in Business honoree:
I am very humbled and very honored to be one of the Women in Business honorees for 2026. I must give credit to mother, Carolyn Fitzgerald, for me being listed along with the other women in RV PRO. For me, my mom was a trailblazer. She and my father, Murrell, taught our family how to work and the business ethics to go along with it. Starting our dealership in 1972 was a new adventure for my parents. Dad worked outside the business for several years, which meant Mom had to run the business by herself during normal business hours. I spent many hours with Mom at work, and I can remember how hard she worked. Not many women in the 70’s could do what she did. I can remember I wanted to be just like her.
All these years seeing my parents put their whole heart into the business but keeping God first made an impression on me. We as a family continue to run the dealership with the work principles that Mom and Dad set in place 54 years ago. The only reason I can be a Women in Business honoree is because of the guidance I had. I think my parents would be proud to see how their hard work has been noticed. It is now my hope that I can be an influence on other women to do their best, not for the glory but for the “respect” you can obtain.
