As the inventor, the engineer, the visionary and the person responsible for lifting off-grid power above an “option” for the RV industry and for inspiring end users in the aftermarket and OEMs to make it a priority, Yi is pushing the industry and developments of products to perform better and to be more reliable.
As CEO, Yi is responsible for staffing, managing and motivating the leaders of every facet of the company’s global organization, from engineering to supply chain, manufacturing, sales, marketing, customer success and administration. She built the business from the ground up 16 years ago, and based on her exceptional scientific competency, she is the driver of the strategy and technology that has established Renogy as a global leader in off-grid power for mobile applications.
Yi oversees executive leadership, international operations, financial planning, manufacturing strategy, and long-term market expansion, with a strong focus on advancing off-grid energy solutions for the RV, marine and mobile power industries. Yi has been a pioneer in bringing advanced lithium battery technology, integrated solar systems and complete off-grid energy platforms into the mainstream RV market. Under her leadership, Renogy evolved from a component supplier into a full-solution provider offering end-to-end energy ecosystems designed specifically for mobile living and off-grid applications, to businesses and end-users, globally.
She has consistently pushed the company toward higher-capacity electrical architectures, smarter system integration, and scalable OEM-ready platforms that allow RV manufacturers to support modern power demands and extended off-grid capability. Her leadership emphasizes both technical innovation and accessibility, ensuring that advanced energy solutions are not only high-performance but practical for manufacturers, dealers and consumers to adopt.
Yi is also known internally for empowering regional leadership teams, investing heavily in product development, and maintaining a long-term strategic vision focused on sustainable energy independence and reliability in mobile environments.
She is supporting the RV Women’s Alliance build this year, utilizing solar equipment in third-world countries to power deep water pumps to ensure economically challenged communities have fresh water.
As a female founder and CEO in both the energy and RV sectors, industries historically dominated by men, Yi has been an incredible example of leadership and technical authority. She actively promotes inclusive hiring practices, supports the advancement of women into leadership roles across product, operations and commercial teams, and encourages cross-functional professional development within Renogy.
Yi’s leadership culture prioritizes opportunity based on capability and initiative, resulting in strong female representation across management, engineering coordination, marketing leadership and business operations. By creating and nurturing a performance-driven but supportive environment, she has helped create pathways for women to take ownership of major strategic initiatives, customer programs and organizational leadership roles.
One of the major challenges Yi faced was scaling Renogy from a growing solar company into a fully integrated global energy solutions provider while navigating rapid technological shifts, supply chain complexity and increasing industry competition.
Rather than limiting the company to individual components, she made the strategic decision to invest heavily in engineering, battery technology and system-level design, a move that required significant operational restructuring, expanded manufacturing coordination and long-term capital commitment. Through this transition, she strengthened the company’s leadership structure, expanded global production capabilities and aligned teams around a unified product ecosystem strategy.
This decision ultimately transformed Renogy into a comprehensive energy platform provider capable of supporting OEM manufacturers and large-scale commercial partners, significantly strengthening the company’s long-term competitive position and impact on the industry.
Yi’s advice for up-and-coming women in the RV industry:
The RV industry is evolving quickly, especially with the growing demand for energy independence and new technologies. My advice is to stay curious and continue learning, even outside of your immediate role. Understanding both the technical side of the product and the needs of the customer will set you apart.
It is also important to be confident in your perspective. You may not always see many people who look like you in the room, but that should never limit your voice or your impact. Focus on contributing value, building strong relationships and staying consistent over time.
At the same time, remember that no meaningful success is achieved alone. The strongest careers are built by learning from others, supporting your team and growing together.
One principle I have followed is to focus on long-term value rather than short-term success. In business, especially in manufacturing and technology, the decisions you make today may take years to fully show results. This means investing in product quality, building strong teams and making decisions that may be harder in the short term but create a stronger foundation over time. Much of what we have been able to achieve is the result of consistent and relentless effort from a dedicated team working toward a shared vision.
What it means to Yi to be a Women in Business honoree:
It is an absolute honor to be recognized, especially in an industry like energy and RV that has traditionally been male dominated.
At the same time, I see this recognition as a reflection of the team behind me. What we are building at Renogy is a collective effort, and much of the progress comes from the people who are contributing every day across the organization.
To me, this recognition represents progress, not just individually, but for the industry as a whole. I hope it encourages more women to pursue opportunities in this space and to take on leadership roles across engineering, operations, and business.
I am grateful for the recognition and remain focused on continuing to build a strong team and a culture that can create long-term value and push the industry forward.
